Chinanews, Zhengzhou, Mar. 2 (By Zhu Xiaojuan) - Sources from the related departments of Henan Province said that the application of Shaolin Kung Fu for the United Nations' World Heritage list has gone underway.

In Dengfeng Shaolin Temple in Henan Province, the shamans in the past dynasties had created Kung Fu, a form of martial art taught by personal example as well as verbal instructions. With a history of more than 1,500 years, Shaolin Kung Fu has developed a complete and organic system of Buddhism culture. According to existing archives, Shaolin Kung Fu consists of 708 series, among which Shaolin Quan, Shaolin Stick, 72 Stunts, Yijin-Jing and Xisui-Jing are already widely known in the Chinese world.

In recent years, there is a rush to protect Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity. However, up till now, China has only listed Kunqu Opera and Guqin Art as such masterpieces.
